Forget Me Not - Is He Boyfriend Material? Literally?

Men will never appreciate the feeling of a woman's forgotten piece of left over clothing, either in a relationship or sometimes ironically after one ends. Boyfriend jeans, boyfriend shirts, blazers, etc., drape our bodies beautifully as we grace our style with metaphorically and literally a "piece of our man". Our femininity although physically covered in the clothes of our guys makes an even bolder statement to the sometimes baring body con and form fitting trends that sometimes leave no room for free style creativity and outfit manipulation. This gives fellow fashion and style watchdogs a cloak of mysteriousness of our frames and sometimes even a new mindset to look at women's design and function.

Unfortunately, in our fashion forgetfullness and mishaps there is not so much we can offer our male counterparts in terms of style. If anything we can make them appreciate how we transform their mind slip or maybe even messiness into a style take on the traditional.  After all, we couldn't have escaped the reigns, constrictions and stereotype of form fitting clothing to solely remain feminine if it weren't for a great slip of the mind from our wonderful male companions in our life.

Fashion editors, bloggers and labels have made a whole new look in the baggy, distressed, slightly worn and perfectly tucked men's pieces into a shoppable, easy and coveted look for the ultimate carefree chic. Style names like Adriano Goldshmied's "ex-boyfriend jean" and Urban Outfitter's "ex-boyfriend and boyfriend blazer" are now a common conceptualization when creating a story and look with a product. Before the Fall/Winter lookbooks saw the same fur trim, leather and gems as closet staples - now they accompany chambrays, flannel, distressed denim and baggy band t-shirts to the mix.

So do us stylish girlfriends and even ex-girlfriends a favor and give the gift of not bitter remembrance or sweet missing, but noteworthy sartorial inspiration. Give us your button-up if we're chilly in the morning, leave a pair of weekend jeans over our place because doing so is really the gift of giving. You give us fashion inspiration for the Friday mornings when we don't know what to wear and in return you get a beautiful fashion forward lady reflecting a part of you.

Remember, we know there may not be much to do with our forgetful clothing leftovers in terms of bringing something different and unique to menswear but on a style worthy and notable reversal of George Zimmer:

"You're gonna like the way we look in your clothes, we guarantee it."

Radioactive Bones

I've had this shirt since I was 18. Five years later I'm still in love with it. I love wearing it all day and then going to a theater or dark lounge and surprising everyone. After all my motto is "you gotta show some bones to prove you can't be broken." ;) The shoes I got for a steal at Marshall's and the   heathered gray cardigan I added to bring some different texture and more importantly warmth to the outfit. It's my little brothers and probably mine until he asks for it and I get a sudden lapse of memory.

The kick ass dragon claw duster ring was a gift from my best friend Lena for my 23rd birthday last week. I'm absolutely floored at how she knows my affinity for gold, unique rings and a little edginess. She put it in a Zale's box for me and I have to say as a proposal for marriage when we tire of all the jerk men in the world, it's pretty awesome.

Good Will Hunting

My favorite ring. An affinity for jewelry that portrays pain ;)

When you're 5'2" knee highs are actually thigh highs sometimes

This is Jay :) aka "Kim Jong Illa" that day in backstock at worked I dubbed him. "Hey Jess, can you see me?"

It's light weather jacket time. At least on this side. Working on the men's team and sometimes unpacking shipment means I got to call dibs on some pieces I feel are perfectly unisex and rarely in an extra small. I'm a firm believer that people do too much camo overkill, guys mostly. When trying to look miilitary chique don't overuse the pattern. It is meant to be a statement pattern on a statement piece. Camo on camo or mixing camo can only lead to yourself becoming a walking parody of Swarchzengeger circa Predator (add mud under eyes for authenticity and for extra hype points) or third world country warlord or rebel drug cartel leader. Your choice.

I immediately fell in love with this jacket and yes I even plan to do some DIY minor studding to make it a lil my own. I especially adore the detachable hood just as much as I adore my steal on this jacket as well. 60% off original retail price. God I loved my job lately.

I wear outfits on my mood and convenience as well. Just like it is convenient that since my hand is broken I can not properly shave my legs without looking like I got into a fight with a shard of glass. So thigh highs it was today...or knee highs for the fashion industry who magically think women are normally 5'10" and over.

At least it's beginning to turn into autumn, and I can double that as an excuse as well ;)

Seeing RED

I may regret this later but I took off my hand splint to take this picture hence the "dead" limp right hand. I'm getting another xray this Friday, wish me luck!

I'm in love with these coated red jeans I bought. Originally $78 but purchased for only $31!!! Again employee discounts and a fun company rocks. Everyone kept complimenting me on my jeans. Coated jeans are great for people like myself, the few who don't want to fully dedicate to the pleather or leather look and risk sweaty thighs and uncomfortable ride ups, who just want to still have that great textured look. They fit tight like leather and second skin and make the booty look great I must say.

In other news, I've given up my bangs. RIP fringe of August.

The weather on the east coast is getting cooler and fall is a comin'! Which means I have no shame in getting girl boners of bringing out my leather jackets and leather booties and layering.

OTFT BRDWN:

Moto cloth sleeve jacket: Forever 21
Gauze print tank: Forever 21
Coated Twig jeans: BDG Urban Outfitters
Wedge boots: Mini Market

Target has done it again. These pleated hi-low skirts come in black, teal, and mustard. I felt like broccoli cheddar...mmmmmm. The weather is getting cooler and so are the seasons color trends. Natural colors that mimic autumn are what I'm excited for. Not just because I'm an autumn baby ;)

Skirt: Target $19.99
Tank: Urban Outfitters $18
Bag: Vintage  (mother's)
Belt, necklace, bracelets: forever 21

Today I worked 7am to 3. Needless to say it was a little better than yesterday where
I had 2 hours of sleep, today I had about 4. My best so far, oi vey.

The cutie pie posing is my 2 year old niece Evelyn or as I like to call her "Evil-lyn". She's so mischievous and likes to wear my heels and try to do my winged eyeliner. She is my precious little heart warmer.

Outfit Breakdown:

Studded jacket: Vintage DKNY (moms) and I did the studding myself. I have a lot of broken nails to go in studding hours let's say.

(A Marshalls Style Steal pt.1)

Real fashionistas shop for bargains, splurge when necessary and always compare. The fun of putting together sensible, stylish and AFFORDABLE looks is the hunt. The hunt is also half the fun. Rummaging through Marhsalls I always find something really great

I am a real girl. As in real budget, real bills to pay, student loans, cell bill, credit card bill, I like to eat! "stuff my face" bill and "weekend night out bar tab bill". I'm searching for bigger things but always stay humble. We all don't have the luxury to drop a month's paycheck on one staple fashionable brand name item and THAT'S PERFECTLY FINE. If there's one thing I hate, it's fashion snobs. As I will say time and time again - "You don't buy style, you find it."

I dug through a rack of knit tops and found these two gems. This is why I always will love Marshalls because my wallet and mind are happy and I can look fabulous for less. I call myself a human doilie because these remind me of crafting during Valentine's day as a child.

Compared to other high name brands and retailers...this was def a steal. The price of both still don't even comprise the price of one in a regular similar style at a higher end store. Expect to normally pay about $40-$60 for a crochet knit top

Off to work with early with my cappuccino with 2 shots! Picking which one to wear was kind of tough but I opted for the mesh inlay to show off my cute torso...I'm only 5'1"...so there isn't a lot to literally show off...

I paired it with a moss green heavy military shirt/jacket, black high waisted shorts and nude suede booties.

And ladies, I don't care what excuse you have but when wearing anything sheer, see through, mesh, etc., be classy, hide the lassies with a bandeau bra or bralette or cropped undershirt.

Coachella ready on the East Coast.

The shark tooth necklace is my own I made. I took a 14kt gold chain and my lonely lost (former pair) of gift shop aquarium shark tooth earrings and wound the wire around the chain.

Outfit breakdown:
Necklace- my own, handmade
Military jacket - American Eagle Outfitters, $38
crochet top - Marshall's $13
High waist zip shorts - Urban Outiftters $15 (on sale) ...shhh I'm an employee...my discount rocks!
booties - Target $30

Under $100...(woot!!!)

August 6, 2012

Hello hello hello! This is my first post and by default the most recent picture of me. I'm a natural dancer, I don't know how but I get down and look pro doing it. I was at the Mad Decent Block Party Philly 2012 here and apparently a victim of a water gun attack. Basically I am always in my own zone, and I have fun and literally dance like no one is watching...but apparently someone was O_0
